Tõnu Samuel

person

I'm an Estonian systems programmer and security specialist. I've written code professionally since 1991, starting at the Estonian Ministry of Communication.

I was MySQL employee #2, working on database internals and security through the years when MySQL became the world's most deployed open-source database. As a white-hat hacker I've been cited by the Estonian press on network security for decades.

Since 2011 I have lived in Tokyo, working on embedded systems and hardware across Japanese industry. I'm currently CTO of bitgrit, an AI and data-science company. I founded Solaride, Estonia's solar car engineering project, and built paywalled.email, a pay-to-deliver email system.

This site is my home on the web: a blog (coming), a full resume (coming), and the projects that speak for themselves.
